Description
This is the first in my Sierra Series that also includes Mountain Lake. It was done by casting my wax model in a centrifuge, my first time doing such a thing. To melt scrap silver into a glowing red sphere and release it into a mold was a truly awesome experience and a bit scary, too.
To make that model, I tore jeweler’s wax to create the beveled edges, used a tool to mark up the smooth surfaces and joined two such pieces together. I had to create a pocket on the back to hold the stone that would represent the rising Moon behind distant mountains.
